Matt Stempeck, civic technologist, has made a proposal in a recent Harvard Business Review post stating that tech companies, specifically, should consider donating data instead of money.
Stempeck quotes Hilary Mason, a data scientist at Accel Partners, saying, "Share data, and you make the world a more interesting place in a direction that you’re interested in."
