The Aspen Institute Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy Group YES GROUP, chaired by the President of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, and The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship NFTE launched the 'I Said Yes' campaign and released the nation’s first policymaker action guide on youth entrepreneurship education.
The guide was unveiled on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 during a Global Entrepreneurship Week YES GROUP Policy Briefing event at the Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC. The event, entitled We Say YES To Youth Entrepreneurship Education in America's Schools: What Policymakers Can Do to Prepare Youth for the Market Economy, focused on bringing about change in how youth are educated and empowered.

Rally Software Development Corp.®, the Agile lifecycle management leader, was awarded the 2008 Affiliate Company of the Year by Entrepreneurs Foundation (EF). Rally was selected for this prestigious award for its commitment to philanthropic and community involvement programs, including the company’s involvement in founding the Entrepreneurs Foundation in Colorado.
Rally set aside 1% of its equity when it was founded in a grant to the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County. The Community Foundation makes grants to non-profit groups working in the arts, civic engagement, education, the environment, and health and human services.

To help local food banks and pantries meet the increasing needs in the community, the Marin Community Foundation is making grants to 11 local emergency food programs totaling $250,000.
"The stories are clear and compelling," said MCF President Thomas Peters in announcing the awards. "Given the severe economic downtown, many more people, including families with young children, need food, and providers are having trouble keeping up with the demand. This is a heart wrenching situation, and the Trustees of the Foundation want to extend a helping hand. We simply cannot have people waiting in line for food, only to find there's nothing on the shelves."

Donations to charities grew about 4.5 percent in the 2007 fiscal year which ended in July for most groups, to what sounds like a reassuring $72.5 billion. The data is from an annual survey of the 400 charities that raise the most from private sources, done by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, a biweekly publication that covers the nonprofit sector.
But that number doesn’t reflect the sudden downturn in donations these last few months, as large financial institutions and historically generous donors have collapsed, dozens of states have announced huge budget deficits, many municipalities are cutting their support of social service agencies — and some nonprofit agencies are facing a drop in individual contributions.

Members of the Ashland County Community Foundation recognized those who donate their time and resources to the organization during their annual Donor Appreciation Dinner Tuesday evening.
Foundation President Dr. Lucille Ford says the organization serves as a vehicle by connecting people who care to causes that matter.

Larry Mattson of the Yakima Youth Soccer Association knows nonprofit groups and foundations are hurting. So when he received a $46,000 grant on Wednesday, he was blown away.
"I was ecstatic," said Mattson, project manager for the Central Washington Soccer Center. "This is a fantastic shot in the arm."
The soccer association was one of 24 groups that received a grant from the Yakima Valley Community Foundation during a Wednesday luncheon. The foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life for Yakima County residents, in such areas as health care, the arts and education.

The Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan approved $495,350 in grants to nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life in the region. The Board approved the grants at its September meeting.

China's first non-governmental community foundation, the Arcadia Public Welfare Foundation, was launched at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Saturday.
The foundation was established with 100 million yuan (about 14.65 million U.S. dollars) donated by Shenzhen Airtown (Eastern) Industrial Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen Arcadia Real Estate Group.
