Marshall County Community Foundation hosts annual meeting
The Marshall County Community Foundation held its annual meeting at the Argos United Methodist Church’s Community Life Center.
The Foundation had helped make the Center a reality by a grant for equipment to be used there. It was the second year that the meeting had been held at a location benefitting from ties with the Foundation. Last year’s meeting was held at Culver’s Vandalia Station.
Outgoing Executive President of the Foundation Tammy Houin was honored for her years of outstanding service to the organization. The Foundation expressed its gratitude to Houin for her key leadership especially during the transitional period to new Executive Director Jennifer Maddox several years ago, and the close working relationship she developed with the United Way in that period.
Houin then reported on achievements of the Community Foundation in the past year.
In that time, a major task was undertaken to apply for certification by the national Council of Foundations. The Council awards certification to those groups that show compliance with 33 different standards of operation that comprise a well run foundation. Areas looked at include how the C.E.O. is evaluated to accounting procedures and the grant awarding process.
The application was complete in January and the Foundation is awaiting notification of their certification by the group.
