Dallas Foundation gets grant to assist military personnel
A $7.5 million grant from the Los Angeles-based California Community Foundation to a Dallas Foundation fund will benefit thousands of North Texas servicemen and servicewomen and their families.
The grant will provide increased emergency assistance, mental and physical health services, and other programs.
It targets the Dallas Foundation's Texas Resources for Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment Fund, known as the Triad Fund, said Mary Jalonick, president of the Dallas Foundation.
These recent funds represent a 50 percent increase from the $5 million originally given in 2007.
Ms. Jalonick said the Triad Fund is the only one of its kind in the region, targeting and supporting the growing needs of deployed and returning troops and their families.
