Community Foundation doles out $63,904 in grant money
The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette gave out $63,904 in grants Tuesday to 10 local nonprofit agencies.
The grants focused on several community priorities — children and youth, education, health, and the environment.
The largest grant of $13,499 went to Tippecanoe County Child Care, Inc., to buy equipment for an three multi-age classrooms.
"This grant will allow us to increase enrollment for children between 6 weeks and 3 years old," said Marilyn Redman, TCCC executive director.
"We're very grateful."
Doug Eberle, president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation, said the current economic downturn will not hurt its ability to give grants. He said a certain amount of money is set aside each year to account for dips in the financial markets.
