DuPage Community Foundation asking for community’s help :: News

Thursday, March 26th, 2009
With so many people in need of help these days, it can be tough for those with the means to help to know just where to start. The DuPage Community Foundation has an easy answer.

The organization, which each year awards grants to help dozens of DuPage nonprofits help people in need, has more calls for help than ever this year. It's calling on the entire community to help them meet the need.

The DuPage Community Foundation Board of Trustees voted this month to increase its spring grant budget by $50,000 and they've challenged the community to do the same. The Community Crisis Challenge sets out to raise $50,000 in donations by April 5.

Nonprofit gathering brings new ideas amid tough times

Thursday, March 26th, 2009
The first Nonprofit Summit in Frederick was not focused on bolstering organizations in an increasingly dismal economy. But with nonprofits relying on volunteer effort, donations and grant money from both public and private sources, the bad economy was not far from anyone's mind. More than 170 people representing 125 nonprofit organizations attended the conference Wednesday to hear from experts on three topics: volunteer, resource and board development. The event was sponsored by the Ausherman Family Foundation in partnership with Volunteer Frederick and The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
