Neumann gets grant for female students
Since 1985, the Newcombe Foundation has granted $391,000 to Neumann University to assist mature women students.
The foundations Scholarships for Mature Women Students program currently assists 31 universities and four-year colleges in New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.
Newcombe guidelines stipulate that institutions selected for the program welcome enrollment by mature women students and are committed to their success.
Neumann University, which has served adults in the Delaware Valley since 1976, enrolls more than 800 adult students in degree completion, certificate, masters degree and doctoral programs. Each year, between 800 and 1,000 students receive scholarships based on the Foundations support.

Alex Geosits was named to the deans list at Gettysburg College for the spring semester.
University of South Carolina
Haley Geosits, a 2009 graduate of Strath Haven High School, has been named to the deans list at the University of South Carolina for the spring semester. Van Horn, son of David and Shirley Van Horn of Malvern, graduated with honors recently.
Van Horn is the grandson of Kathleen Van Horn of Prospect Park and Shirley Judge of Glenolden.

Philadelphia College
of Osteopathic Medicine
John Robert Burger of Parkside was among the 256 graduates awarded a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) at the colleges 121st commencement.
The ceremony was held at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts June 3.
Dr. Burger is continuing his medical training in osteopathic surgery at Summa Western Reserve Hospital, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Ursinus College
Danielle Yentz recently graduated from Ursinus College with a bachelor of arts degree in media and communication studies and minors in Spanish and management.
While at Ursinus, Yentz was named to the deans list; Theta Chi, the Ursinus chapter of the national communication honor society Lambda Pi Eta; Phi Sigma Iota, the national foreign-language honor society; the All-Centennial Conference in 2010 and 2011; and the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2012.
She was awarded the Anthony and Maria Lucia Scholarship, and she was named MVP of the Ursinus College swim team in 2009 and 2010. As a marketing and public relations intern for Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County, she assisted with the creative development of branch marketing materials and aided in the implementation of the new national YMCA branding program.
A graduate of Springfield High School, Yentz is the daughter of Laura and Dan Yentz.
Hospital Fire Marshals Association
The Hospital Fire Marshals Association recently awarded scholarships to five area college students.
Sean Connolly of York College, Will Banhead of Temple University, Jennifer Stipa of Penn State, Gerald Moyer of Saint Josephs University, and Anna Moyer of the University of Pittsburgh all received scholarships at an awards ceremony held at Holy Redeemer Hospital.
Bob Shewbrooks, president of the HFMA, presented the awards.
Eastern University
Andrew Crockett of Aldan will attend Eastern University as a first-year athletic training major.
Crockett is the son of Scott and Debra Crockett and graduated from The Christian Academy.
While in high school, Crockett was captain of the varsity soccer team, a member of the varsity baseball team, and served as Student Life vice president.
