Big things were happening last week for Alpha Xi Delta as the chapter hosted its inaugural AmaXIng Challenge in honor and support of autism.
aIam super excited about all the organizations who have members participating because it is a lot higher of a participation rate than we anticipated,a McInnis said.
The chapteras pop-up philanthropy booth could be spotted Monday through Thursday right across from the library filled with enthusiastic members ready to inform fellow students on their nationally recognized philanthropy connection to Autism Speaks.
While Alpha Xi Delta had a fun time fundraising for their philanthropy through the events, at the end of the day they were just happy to be able to advocate for their sororityas partnership with Autism Speaks.
aItas really cool because Alpha Xi Delta has raised $6.5 million dollars for Autism Speaks since our organization started the partnership in 2009,a Mcinnis said.
In their connection to Autism Speaks, Alpha Xi Delta is dedicated to a…promoting solutions across the spectrum, and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and supporta ,a according to the Alpha Xi Delta official website.
The statistics in which people are affected with Autism are alarmingly high and exemplify why it is a developmental disorder people should be aware of.
With every 1 in 68 children being diagnosed with autism, it is a disorder that Alpha Xi Delta is proud to help people come to terms with.
It is because of the awareness brought to light through supporting charities and partners such as AXiD, that people have become aware of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
However, there isnat an actual cure for autism but there is behavioral, educational and family therapies that may help reduce symptoms and support development and learning.A
Members of the chapter already have future plans in mind and are excited for next yearas philanthropy week.
