Adobe Systems Inc. on Wednesday announced the Adobe Foundation, a global philanthropic organization focused on "driving positive social change and community improvement."
San Jose-based Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) has historically allocated one percent of its annual net income to philanthropic giving, managed through a donor-advised fund at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

The Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation has earmarked three areas to benefit from the $1 million donation made by Pfizer Inc. as it announced that it would close it's operation in the city.

In honor of October, Family History Month, the Marshall District Library is proud to announce the official unveiling of our online newspaper database. Historic Marshall newspapers from 1838 through 1930 are currently available at the library on the Marshall District Library's website at www.marshalldistrictlibrary.org. Persons can access this link at the library for free or outside the library for a fee, $100 per year or $14 per month.

The Friends of the Demopolis Public Library was recently awarded a $1,000 grant from the Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF).
““This grant will help the library increase the number of public access computers and help the library meet the technology needs of our community,” library director Morgan Grimes said.

Alpine Bank has issued a challenge to the Rock River Valley – raise $50,000 from now until Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in order to secure the Kresge Foundation Grant for the Connecting Our Future Capital Campaign, and the remaining
$50,000 – the last amount needed for the grant – will be matched and donated by Alpine Bank.

Fruitport's football loss on Friday didn't hinder supporters from celebrating and giving to the Fruitport Education Foundation.
The foundation formed in 2005, and, similar to many schools throughout Muskegon County, is operated by the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
More than $10,000 was raised at the foundation's annual "Fifth Quarter Party" at Fruitport Auditorium. Following the game, about 270 attendees enjoyed free food, entertainment, and contributed to the silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

On September 17th a $25,000 grant from the Monmouth County Community Foundation was presented to DonorsChoose.org at an event held at the Midtown Community Elementary School in Neptune, NJ, which included the Superintendent of Neptune Schools, Mr. David Mooij. The Monmouth County Community Foundation “Double Your Impact” campaign will be used to half fund teacher-submitted proposals from Monmouth County, New Jersey public schools.

Silicon Valley Community Foundation will hold a Coastside request for proposal information session at Cabrillo Unified School District on September 24 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The community foundation has identified a series of Requests for Proposals, or RFPs, that address five grantmaking strategies:

Over the past two decades, 275 Burlington High School graduates have received more than $130,000 in scholarships from one source.
The Burlington Educational Foundation has been helping meet the needs of students and staff in the Burlington School District since its inception in 1986. Thanks to the support of teachers, members of the community, former students and staff, the foundation's assets have grown from zero to more than $870,000.
The foundation recently joined the Des Moines County Community Foundation to offer maximum tax advantages to contributors. Iowa residents are eligible for a 20 percent tax credit if they make a donation.

The estate of the former president of the Waupaca Foundry has bequeathed $1 million to support education in the Waupaca area.
The gift to the Waupaca Area Community Foundation from the estate of Don Brunner will be treated as an endowment and is expected to generate $50,000 a year to be used for scholarships and the educational advancement of "young men and women who merit and are financially or otherwise in need of such assistance."
The Waupaca Area Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.
