The IIdaho Community Foundation has awarded $218,832 in grants to 118 organizations in 18 counties in southwestern Idaho, including more than $40,000 in Canyon County.
Overall, the grants support a wide range of community needs in Southwestern Idaho, ranging from clothes for women seeking jobs in Ada County to a new convection oven for a senior citizens center in Washington County.

Nineteen non-profit organizations received a total of over $135,000 in grants Wednesday at the Terre Haute Holiday Inn.
Wabash Valley Community Foundation volunteers chose each group. The non-profits were chosen after a long and competitive application process.
The grants come from donors who give money to reinvest in the community. Efforts also go towards saving up money for non-profits.

The Wabash Valley Community Foundation gave out more than $135,000 dollars in grants Wednesday. Gifts ranged from $500 to 30,000 dollars.
The foundation awarded 19 agencies.
Each organization spoke about what the money will provide.
Leaders say it feels good to be able to support the community.
Beth Tevlin, the Executive Director of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation says,” We’re very humbled to be able to have donors who've invested in the community foundation and then we're very humbled to be able to partner with all of these great organizations and be able to give them grants. If we had more unrestricted endowed funds, we would be able to give more grants because there are non-profits out there who have fabulous ideas for programs that will really benefit Vigo County."

The Erie Community Foundation will use $1 million in federal stimulus money to develop job-training programs for nearly 100 local nonprofit organizations.
The announcement of the grant -- part of a $46 million stimulus distribution -- came Wednesday. The day before, a census report confirmed what too many in the community already knew: Nearly one in four Erie residents is living in poverty.
The federal government draws that line at an annual income of $10,400. According to the census report, 24.2 percent of Erie residents lived on less in 2008.

Dan Skokan, president of The Jasper Community Foundation announced earlier this week that 16 area non-profit organizations received grants this year through the state-sponsored County Endowment Program.
A total of 25 proposals were received from educational, municipal and non-profit organizations throughout Jasper County.
“I am pleased to announce that the Foundation awarded $92,075 in 2009 grants,” Skokan said. “We are fortunate to have these funds available to help Jasper County charitable organizations in these difficult economic times. Each year we see more need and interest in the program.”

Citing the greatest need for emergency services seen in its 36-year history, The
Community Foundation for the National Capital Region announced today that its
Neighbors in Need Fund is awarding $714,300 in new grants to safety net
organizations that serve vulnerable residents throughout the metropolitan
Washington region.
The Community Foundation is the largest funder of nonprofit
organizations in the Washington region.
The grants, awarded on a competitive basis, will help 37 charities including
food banks, homeless shelters, and clothing, meal, and foreclosure-prevention
programs meet the Washington, DC region`s escalating demand for basic human
services.

The grants given out Tuesday by the Craven County Community Foundation will go to a range of causes, from helping to equip a local school with band equipment to keeping nonprofit organizations up and running.
The foundation awarded $52,780 to 18 nonprofits, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern North Carolina and The Radio Reading Service of Eastern North Carolina, in a ceremony at the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice awards more than $2 million to local nonprofit organizations Looking to encourage growth and education while highlighting the positive aspects of its community, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice has awarded more than $2 million in grants to 25 local nonprofit organizations.
The organizations, which work in various different fields throughout the community including arts and culture, education, and environmental services, were each given a portion of $2.1 million in grants, the largest total amount of funding ever awarded by the Foundation in a single grant cycle.

Funds from this grant will cover most of the construction material and labor costs necessary to renovate existing space in our building into a new training classroom, said Ted Van Name, president and CEO of Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County. We urgently need more classroom space and this grant from the Delaware Community Foundation will make that possible, added Van Name.
The Delaware Community Foundation manages charitable funds for individuals, families, businesses and organizations, and distributes income from the funds as grants to humanitarian, educational, health and cultural entities throughout Delaware.
For 88 years, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware Countys mission has been to improve the quality of life for individuals with barriers to employment through vocational services and work opportunities and has been supported by proceeds from retail sales and donations. Last year alone, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County provided over 6,900 services to individuals throughout the region.

The Trustees of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts recently announced $511,500 in competitive grant awards to area organizations.
Fifty-five Pioneer Valley projects will receive this funding with awards ranging from $1,000 to $25,000. The Community Foundation awards competitive grants twice each year, allocating funds to nonprofit organizations for projects addressing community needs, including arts and culture, education, environment, health, housing and human services for Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties.
