OzHarvest collects food that is left over from events and restaurants and distributes it to hungry people. Food that would otherwise go to waste is transformed into meals for people in need. A former events planner, OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn, founded the company 12 years ago, and it has grown greatly, serving 45 million meals since then. This has put a dent in the 10 billion dollars of food wastage every year, and Ms. Kahn's goal is to reduce the amount of food wasted by half by 2025.
A recent event signed up 175 volunteers in one day, and OzHarvest currently has 32 delivery vehicles, so the company is poised to grow even further. Ms. Kahn herself has found a way to create a successful company, make a difference in the world, and find a job that gives her personal satisfaction.
