Reedy Fork Elementary School received a $650 grant from the Toshiba America Foundation to buy a weather station for the school. The grant, written in the hopes of spurring interest in science, will allow students to track weather observations and measurements through the seasons.
Students will be able to collect data via an integrated weather data collector that measures air temperature, dew point, wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, humidity and rainfall. The data will be wirelessly transmitted to a science classroom where students will be able to access the information and teachers will be able to incorporate it into the curriculum.
The weather station is sure to provide relevant and practical applied experiences that will enrich the learning experience of students for years to come.
