The Community Foundation of Abilene has awarded a grant to the View Volunteer Fire Department. The grant amounting to roughly $10,000 will be used to purchase new, custom bunker gear.
Each seat of gear, amounting to $1,700-$1,800, consists of coats and pants that are lined with thermal protection, gloves that are specialized for high temperatures or maximum grip and thermal hoods to protect them from burns.
