Grant Purpose - Friends of the Earth is the United States affiliate of an international network of environmental organizations in 70 countries. Through this project, Friends of the Earth works to strengthen environmental policies in the institutions that invest capital for projects in developing countries. During this grant period, the objectives of the project will be to continue to hold international financial institutions and other financiers accountable by advocating for sustainable development of the extractive industry sector; effectively address new financing institutions, particularly those new institutions in developing countries; and ensure that development resources are deployed in ways that benefit the poor, particularly given the new climate-related financing.
