The New Skills for Youth, through a $75 million dollar grant to be spread out over qualifying states over 5 years and collaborated through JPMorgan and Chase, the Council of Chief State School Officers and Advanced CTE, awarded Delaware $100,000 to drive career-focused education among high school students.
This is only phase one, helping students develop a learning mindset focused on future careers, and is to be followed by phase two, requiring selected grant states to execute plans that would put students in paths that would land them meaningful jobs after their education is through.
These grants provide a range of opportunities in a variety of fields including culinary arts, computer science, management, engineering, medical sciences, and manufacturing. In the coming years, select students across specific schools, will have the chance to build their careers already during their education.
