Bloom Elementary made a three-year commitment to Blessings in a Backpack starting August this year. This involvement to the program was suggested by a Jewish Philanthropist, Nina Straw.
According to Nina Straw, the needy students of the school will receive backpacks filled with foods, such as granola bars and peanut butter, every Friday. The backpacks will then be returned on Monday.
