The Make-A-Wish Foundation will be holding its big fall fundraiser, a walk around Crapo Park in Burlington to help grant wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, raising on average $8,600 per child.
The fall walk is the largest fundraiser the southeast Iowa chapter holds annually. According to Mary Ann Gaudette, director of the southeast Iowa chapter, wishes usually are within four categories: travel, meeting a hero, shopping sprees or "being someone for a day".
