If you're looking for a way to give back to the community that's given you so much, there's a group in Wharton County, Texas, that's got you covered.
The Wharton County Community Foundation was created in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization, and its mission is "improving the quality of life for the people of Wharton County," according to its website.
Anyone in the county can contribute to one of the foundation's 14 funds, or they can create their own.
"We administer funds that you [the general public] create in order to support your charitable giving," a foundation board member tells the Wharton County Daily News.
"A person could start a charitable fund with as little as $5,000, and some start with substantially more, but together they are able to generate greater wealth for the overall fund."
The foundation held more than $17 million in funds for 2021 and established a 19% return on investment for that year.
