When Susann LaFave died in 2013, she left behind a legacy of giving.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Kenosha County Foundation in Wisconsin awarded the LaFave Family Fund, one of four charitable funds she set up, more than $40,000 in grants.
LaFave was known for her support of the arts, and the News reports that six of this year's grants went to organizations that promote the humanities, the arts, tolerance, and communication, as well as to support teacher training in Native American history and sovereignty.
"As grants are awarded, I am reminded of the generosity of our donors and volunteers that invest their time, talent, and treasure to enhance the present and ensure the future health and well-being of individuals and families across Kenosha County," Amy Greil, executive director of the Kenosha Community Foundation, says in a press release.
The News reports the LaFave Family Fund awarded more than $40,000 in grants this year.
