Rhode Island Foundation awards nearly $110000 in grants to support Black Community services

The Black Philanthropy Bannister Fund offers scholarships to Black college and technical school students pursuing healthcare careers.

Scholarship applications close April 10.

25 scholarship recipients received $54,500 last year.

The Rhode Island Foundation funds the most nonprofits.

It offers capacity-building programs for nonprofits led by Asian, Black, Latino, Hispanic, Indigenous, or multi-racial executive directors.

It also offers grants for anti-racist organizational cultures.

Neil D. Steinberg, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation, thanked donors, community advisors, and nonprofit partners for addressing inequity.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of working together to eliminate disparities and close achievement gaps, promoting a better future for all Rhode Islanders.
