An electric van that delivers meals to the elderly and disabled is one of 19 projects getting government funding in Ireland, the Guardian reports.
According to the Irish Times, the Scaling Up Fund for Social Enterprises was launched last year by Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys.
"This funding will directly enable social enterprises to develop and expand the vital services that they provide in communities all across Ireland," Humphreys said in a statement.
The projects that will receive funding under the fund include: County Roscommon Disability Support Group Company66,000 to fund a designated training room for carers.
Darndale-Belcamp Village Centre40,675 to fund an additional van to provide essential maintenance services, serving the elderly and those living alone.
No Barriers Foundation100,000 to fund the purchase of equipment for senior exercise.
Dublin Food Co-operative Society66,000 to fund a delivery service to customers.
Simon Community (Galway)40,038 to fund an electric vehicle to support the expansion of their Charity Shops.
