"No pet is unnecessarily euthanized."

That's the lofty goal of Petco Love, a national nonprofit that has invested $350 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts since its founding in 1999, per its website.

The Arizona Republic reports on the group's latest investment, a $100,000 grant to Arizona's Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC), which will go toward providing low-cost spaying and neutering, vaccines, and microchips to area residents.

"Thanks to Petco Love, we were able to provide very important services, such as spaying/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and microchips, to under-resourced communities through our Pet Help program," says MCACC Director Debbie McKnight in a press release.

Per the Republic, more than 23,000 animals have arrived at MCACC since January 2022 and more than 14,000 were adopted into their forever homes.

Nearly 3,000 were transferred to rescue organizations and 3,200 were returned to their owners.

"Our whole team looks forward to continuing this lifesaving work with Petco Love," says McKnight.
