"By providing novel forms of treatment, the BMO Innovative Clinic for Depression will give hope to those with difficult-to-treat depression," says Dr. Jennifer Phillips, interim scientific director at the Institute of Mental Health Research at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Center.
The Canadian bank is making a $2 million donation to help establish the clinic in Ottawa, which is one of the country's top mental health centers, reports the CBC.
The clinic will offer new treatments and services for those who suffer from "treatment-resistant" depression, which means their depression hasn't improved despite multiple treatment trials, per a press release.
"With this donation to The Royal and support for the BMO Innovative Clinic for Depression, more people in Eastern Ontario can make real progress in their treatment to help positively transform their lives," says Victor Pellegrino, a bank member on the Royal's board.
