The Helena Arkansas Daily World – Helena, AR Sponsored by the Arkansas Community Foundation, Arkansas Gives is a 12-hour online giving event.The Boys, Girls Adult Community Development Center in Marvell is among five Phillips County non-profit organizations seeking to earn bonus dollars and prizes for their work through donations at www.arkansasgives.org. All participating organizations are listed at www.arkansasgives.org/search-nonprofits, just click on “Phillips County” under the “List Nonprofits by County” section.Since 1978, BGACDC has been helping to improve life and opportunities for low-income people in one of the poorest areas of the Arkansas Delta. According to Louis Bennett, youth and family programs coordinator for BGACDC, the organization’s mission has not been an easy task due to the scarcity of funds for that type of work.”We would appreciate all the help we can get through this effort,” stated Bennett.According to BGACDC’s website, during the past 37 years the organization has helped put more than 100 families in decent and safe homes through housing development, rentals and rehabbed and rebuilt homes; helped the local schools through tutoring and counseling programs, day camps and other summer programs and much more.During the 12-hour Arkansas Gives online effort, BGACDC supporters can make a gift to help support these worthwhile programs and have their gifts matched by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation and the Arkansas Community Foundation.
