The New Mexico Highlands University has received a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation totaling $500,000 to help incoming freshmen with science classes.
According to the natural resources professor and ARMAS director Edward Martinez, the grant will help school officials target students who struggle with science early on.
The grant focuses on freshmen declaring a science major but aren't prepared for college-level coursework, especially in math and science.
