The Starr Foundation



The Starr Foundation is a private foundation that was founded by an insurance entrepreneur and the founder of the C.V. Starr & Co., Cornelius Vander Starr, in 1955.


Mr. Starr set up his first insurance venture in Shanghai in 1919. He died in 1968 at the age of 76 and left his estate to the Foundation.



The foundation makes grants in certain areas such as education, medicine and healthcare, human needs, public policy, culture, and the environment.
