Grant Purpose - The Trust for Community Outreach and Education works with mainly rural communities in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, and Limpopo provinces assisting them in organizing into formal structures through which they are able to engage government entities that have a mandate to provide various services to them. The aim is to assist these communities to access their rights and improve their livelihoods. It works through eight regional affiliates across the three provinces. Past Mott support has strengthened the capacity of target communities to participate in local government processes and to ensured that municipalities are responsive to their needs and created the space for community participation in local planning processes. It will continue to assist rural communities to participate in the development of municipal plans and to develop local economic development programs that will help improve their livelihoods.
