Grant Purpose - The program goal is to stimulate community-based civic engagement and resource mobilization in Bosnia-Herzegovina. To this end, the Community Foundation Tuzla will work with community leaders, civic associations, youth groups, local district officials, school officials, and local businesses to stimulate community involvement and resource development in the municipality of Tuzla. The foundation will share its experiences with other communities and community-based organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. During the past two years, the foundation operated a community center and granted approximately $36,000 in support of local community development projects, including to Tuzla-area community schools. The foundation also actively engaged young people in its governance and grantmaking. Based in Tuzla, the foundation is networked with other community foundations and community-based organizations working with youth in Europe.
