Grant Amount - $470,000

Grant Purpose - A number of Michigan workers are still losing jobs because of the decline in the domestic automobile industry, and many must face the reality of finding a new career. With this grant renewal, the National Employment Law Project will continue to bolster Michigan's knowledge of how to piece together a rapid and effective response to severe job loss and economic dislocation. This renewal includes piloting a career center in Flint, increasing utilization of retraining programs like the state's No Worker Left Behind program, and establishing a rapid response system in state government for plant closings.
