President and CEO Ed Sayres of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will step down by year's end after nearly ten years leading the animal charities.
Sayres said he's planning to pursue other opportunities in the nonprofit arena and make significant contributions. The organization has retained an international search firm to manage the process of hiring a successor.
