House to Home Aims to Upgrade with Purchase of Paul'S Tv Services Building

A day shelter for the homeless in Parkersburg, West Virginia, is getting a new home after more than 35 years at its current location.

House to Home has purchased Paul's TV Services at 825 Seventh Street, where it will now offer daytime shelter from the weather, food, drinks, a hot meal, mail service, showers, and laundry access, reports the Parkersburg News and Sentinel.

"The facility provides day shelter from the weather, food, snacks, drinks, a hot meal, mail service, showers, and laundry access," says President of the Board Sue Lilly.

"It also provides resources for mental health and other resources for the homeless and those who need a safe space."

The nonprofit, which has operated since 2006, says it needs to find a new location due to " obstacles and challenges" that have made it difficult to serve as many people as before.

The new location will offer parking and outdoor spaces, as well as potential for expanded services and program growth.

The estimated cost of all renovations is $100,00 to $150,000.

With community help, House to Home will move into and open the new location in the fall.
