National Arts Summit Explores the Transformative Power of Culture in Our Communities

"At this moment marked by threats to our democracy, the arts and humanities are an asset to our country that allows us to understand each other better," Maria Rosario Jackson, chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, says in a press release.

In an effort to do just that, the White House and the NEA are co-hosting a summit on "how the arts and culture play in shaping our lives, physical spaces, fuel democracy, and foster equitable outcomes" on Jan.

"This historic convening will shine a light on the arts and humanities as critical to restoring the soul of our nation," says Neera Tanden, domestic policy adviser to the president and director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, per the press release.

Speakers at the "Healing: A Summit on Arts and Culture in Our Communities" will include such luminaries as Christopher Bailey, the World Health Organization's Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health, and Oscar Winner.
