The CEO of the nation's second-oldest civic monument has been ousted over allegations of financial impropriety at Dallas' Fair Park, the Dallas Morning News reports.

On May 1, Brian Luallen resigned as CEO of Fair Park First, the nonprofit that runs the 277-acre park.

On Sunday, Fair Park First's board reversed course and voted to place Luallen on a 45-day paid leave while it conducts a performance evaluation.

"We are united in the belief that this is the right next step for our organization," Fair Park First President Darren James said in a statement.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Luallen released a statement last month accusing the nonprofit's operator, the Oak View Group, of "inaccurate and unauthorized reallocation of funds" meant for capital improvements to the park.

The Morning News reports it's unclear how much money was involved.
