This guest post by Sherryl Kuhlman, managing director of Wharton Social Impact Initiative, and Maoz Brown, associate director of research at Wharton Social Impact Initiative, introduces the Wharton Impact Accelerator (WSII).
WSII is a student learning program designed to work with Philadelphia social enterprises and to advance "impact-smart" thinking among future business leaders.
The program design allows fellows to conduct their analyses with an understanding of the: scope and dimensions of the social and/or environmental issues; evidence for the effectiveness of strategies to address these issues; and risks and downsides associated with these various approaches.
According to the guest post column, working through impact analyses in the Accelerator has generated three key lessons: precision matters, risk profile matters, and clarity matters.
