The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven's Community Fund for Women & Girls awards grants ranging from $1,500 to $20,000 to nonprofits that help women gain economic security. Grants are intended to provide a pool of flexible funding for organizations to use to purchase materials, cover administrative and staff costs, or provide cash assistance or grants to individuals. Support for basic needs that enables women and their families to cope during the pandemic. Shelter, food, clothing, hygiene items, non-prescription drugs and other essential health care not covered by insurance, home utilities, physical safety, transportation, communication tools, and cash assistance in the form of gift cards are examples of material basic needs. Childcare/After-School Programs - Staffing, temporary wage supplements, and other assistance to retain staff and keep programs running.
Personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning supplies, and rapid testing and/or test kits for childcare providers are all part of the health and safety package. Entrepreneurship and business support for female entrepreneurs, including direct financial assistance for operational and administrative costs, business planning, and marketing advice.
