If you're in Cleveland and can't afford to live there, you'll soon be able to.

The city has broken ground on phase 1 of The Aura at Innovation Square, a mixed-use apartment development that will include 82 one- and two-bedroom rental units, as well as for-rent and for-sale housing, reports Cleveland.com.

It's part of a larger effort to revitalize the city's Fairfax neighborhood, home to the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic and Karamu House Theatre.

"Demand for both market-rate and affordable housing remains extremely high in Fairfax and surrounding neighborhoods, and we have an obligation to protect the ability of workers to stay close to their place of employment, as well as providing housing options for existing residents," says Denise VanLeer, executive director of the Fairmount Research and Development Corporation, which is leading the effort.

Cleveland Clinic CEO Tom Mihaljevic, meanwhile, says the clinic is "committed to strengthening the neighborhood we call home and creating a heathier community."
