A Michigan man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his wife's best friend, who was struck and killed by a falling tree while trying to help him escape a house fire.
The Midland Daily News reports that 46-year-old Patrick O'Rourke was found guilty Tuesday in Midland County's courtroom.
The jury found him guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree torture, and second-degree murder in the death of 49-year-old Kimberly Stinnett.
O'Rourke, who was found dead in the garage of his Midland home on Oct.
5, 2016, told police he went to the Stinnett home that day to help her escape from a house fire.
