A West Virginia couple who want to remain anonymous have donated $25,000 to create a fund to honor past, current, and future volunteer leaders of the Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia.

The fund honors Dr. Billy Coffindaffer, who was the first executive director of Morgantown's Greater Morgantown Community Trust from 2002 to 2005, per a press release.

The donor describes Coffindaffer as "an inspiration and mentor who exemplified what a volunteer leader should be."

Coffindaffer and his wife, Norma, also volunteered with a number of community organizations, including the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce, the WVU Alumni Association, and the Community Living Initiatives Corporation, which helped create The Village at Heritage Point.

"It's inspiring to see former board members continue to be involved, connected, and passionate about the community," says Martin Howe, the foundation's current board chair.

The fund, which will be distributed in perpetuity, is part of the foundation's $1 million match campaign to build its IMPACT Fund for greater regional grantmaking.
