An indoor pool in Cedar Falls, Iowa, is getting a big boost from the state of Iowa.
The Gazette reports a $400,000 grant from the state's Community Attraction and Tourism program will go toward the $21 million Community Natatorium, an indoor pool complex currently under construction at the new Cedar Falls High School location.
"This grant is conditional on raising $312,000 and we only have until May 31, 2024, to raise this amount from individuals and businesses," says Lorelei Redfern, a member of the community group Jump In that's been working on the project.
That amount is just 1.5% of the total cost of the complex, which will include a competition pool, therapy pool, warm-up/cool-down pool, spectator seating, and locker rooms.
It's expected to be completed by early 2025.
