The Joe Andruzzi Foundation has given more than $1 million in food security grants to cancer patients in New England, the Boston Globe reports.
"We are incredibly proud, but know that cancer-related financial toxicity is an issue that will continue to impact families across the region," says Andruzzi, a co-founder of the foundation.
The food security grants go to patients and their families who need help with housing, transportation, utilities, food, insurance, and other expenses.
The foundation has given more than $175,000 in grants to patients of Boston Medical Center since 2013, according to a press release.
