They were among a group of 50 children from Omaha families to receive a brand new pair of shoes, thanks to a partnership between Catholic Charities and Payless ShoeSource.

Metro area Omaha Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets are hosting the event, with the help of the Omaha Schools Foundation.

A new house: Habitat for Humanity of Omaha and Goodwill Industries hosted a dedication ceremony for a new home on Friday. Thirty of Goodwillas YouthBuild Omaha students, all of whom previously dropped out of high school, gained new skills building a home from the ground up.

Free week at camp: The Montgomery County Family YMCA, of Red Oak, Iowa, is partnering with Camp Foster YMCA of the Okobojias to send three area children a ages 7-16a to Camp Foster free for one week of two available sessions.

New shoes: Thanks to a partnership between Catholic Charities and Payless ShoeSource, 50 children from low-income Omaha families recently received new shoes.

Help for Alzheimeras: More than 130 families coping with Alzheimeras disease will now receive support, thanks to the Hilarity for Charity and Home Instead Senior Care Alzheimeras and Dementia Care Relief Grant Program.

Alumni dinner fundraiser: The Omaha South High Alumni Association will hold its 20th annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at a new location this year, Gateway Elementary School at 42nd and V Streets. UK will be celebrating its first national celebration of social enterprises dubbed as Social Saturday. World famous celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who founded the Fifteen restaurant chain.
