FOUNDATION SPOTLIGHT: Salvation Army Moreno Valley Corps Community Center – Press Enterprise

The Salvation Army continues a 125 year international tradition of helping those in need get to back on their feet after a crisis with the relatively new Moreno Valley Corps Community Center.

The Moreno Valley Corps Community Center was founded 15 years ago and has been under the direction of Captains Julius and Shannon Murphy for the last seven years. Two years ago, the corps began reaching out to the community of Banning where many individuals do not have the transportation to reach food distribution. They hope to expand to Perris soon as well.

Beyond food distribution, corps offers services to help community members and their children move forward with their lives. Recently the Moreno Valley Corps received a grant from The Community Foundation. Time is a precious commodity and we are grateful for our volunteers.”

While the Salvation Army is a well-known nonprofit organization, Murphy also notes that he hopes more of the community will discover the services they offer, especially those in need. “Changing lives and transforming lives, that is the most important thing we do.”
