Tuesday morning, the foundation distributed funding to twelve local non-profit organizations, totaling more than 95 thousand dollars.

Some of the recipients this year include the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, Habitat for Humanity, the Community Theater and Swope Art Museum.

Officials are excited to announce that Lilly Endowment is joining in, by challenging Vigo County to raise one million dollars.

Beth Tevlin, the Executive Director of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation said, “Lilly Endowment has challenged us to raise a million dollars, they will in return give us a million dollars. That will be two million dollars more for unrestricted, that will amount to approximately to 80,000 dollars more each and every year to provide for grants in our local community.”

The foundation has until March 31, 2016 to raise the one million dollars.
