On a side note, I want everyone to understand most places that charge for goods do so to support a larger mission such as a job training center, soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or shelter for women and children.

They have been listing some of them on local news stations, but we at the Community Foundation know of some foundations in DeKalb County that are accepting financial donations and would be happy to provide you with that information.

Perhaps you are someone who would rather give locally. After the floods in early 2013 and tornado in late 2013, several organizations came together to begin a disaster fund with the purpose of disbursing financial support to Grundy County major disaster victims quickly.

There now is a permanent Disaster Fund at the Community Foundation of Grundy County.
