Timeless photographs inspire Kleinhans archive room

Clotilde Dedecker, the current President of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, jumped at the chance to bid on the book when she discovered it at an auction in New York City.

Wednesday, the Community Foundation announced that the photo album — containing more than 200, 1930s-era images of the clothes that were on display at Kleinhans — would have a home at the music hall.

“And, as part of that, the Community Foundation will be funding a new archive room here at Kleinhans Music Hall, and this photo album of the windows of Kleinhans Department store will be the first gift to the new archive room,” Dedecker said.

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo will be giving a $75,000 grant to Kleinhans Music Hall for this restoration project, in conjunction with the Hall’s 75th anniversary.

Set to open in September, the archive room will preserve this part of Western New York’s past for the future yet to come.
