SAN ANGELO, Texas – Twenty years and $44 million in grants after its founding, the San Angelo Health Foundation has a few things to celebrate.

Anyone who has gone to Esperanza health or dental clinics, or sought help from the domestic violence prosecution unit of the county attorney’s office or the family violence shelter for women and families has in part the San Angelo Health Foundation to thank.

The foundation has issued grants to the San Angelo Safe Kids Coalition, the San Angelo State School Volunteer Services Council, MOSAIC and Sonrisas therapeutic riding programs, the Boys & Girls Club of San Angelo, the House of Faith, Howard College, Angelo State University, the Concho Valley Home for Girls and many other service organizations.

The hundreds of children and families who play and relax by the Concho River downtown every day owe a debt of gratitude for the foundation’s foresight in funding the Kids’ Kingdom playground and many of the amenities and improvements in the city’s heart.

It would be a challenge to find any area of life in San Angelo the foundation has not influenced for the better.

The foundation will mark its 20th anniversary Thursday with a celebration open to everyone from 4- 6 p.m.
