A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration office has awarded the University of Hawaiai over $800,000 “to help Hawaiai communitiesA reduce their vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change,” according to a UH System report Tuesday.A

Through the Regional Coastal Resilience Grants Program,A NOAAas National Ocean Service awarded the University of Hawaiai Sea Grant College Program (Hawaiai Sea Grant) $845,160 to fund a project (Building Resilience to Coastal Hazards and Climate Change in Hawaiai) aimed to address coastal hazards and the impact fromA climate change.

“The frequency and severity of coastal erosion and flooding events is only going to increase in the coming decades with climate change and sea-level rise,” saidA Bradley Romine, Hawaiai Sea Grantas coastal management specialist and project lead.
