BISBEE a Bisbee High School Science Teacher Renee Riksheim has garnered another grant for the high school, this one a $10,000 grant from the Freeport McMoRan Foundation.

aI used to write grants at my former job,a Riksheim said.

Riksheim previously worked at the Cochise County Health Department and has written between $3 million and $4 million in grants.

aI taught sex ed and went into classrooms and that is what got me interested in teaching,a she said.

The $50,000 Riksheim secured last year went into purchasing materials for the lab, aincluding computers which we desperately needed,a she said.

That grant also bought microscopes, electronic scales, an incubator, blood pressure cuffs and more.

aThe whole idea was to continue on with the development of the biology department, specifically physiology and anatomy and getting a bunch of equipment for that.a

The $10,000 should cover purchasing those items.
