SCA donates for environmental work

SOUTH GLENS FALLS i The way Michael Mound, director of SCAas northeast operations, sees it, sustainability is at the core of what his company does, so it makes sense to help local communities do the same things.

aThis year, as it always does, the company has given grants nation-wide toward environmental projects,a Mound said.

The company gave a $2,850 grant to the Cossayuna Lake Improvement Association to build to buffer zones to help keep the lake cleaner and to deal with invasive species.

Barbara Hemken, a technical manager with SCAas South Glens Falls division, presented the check to Ballston Spa science teacher Shannon Hansen last week.

The grant will be used to fund the districtas community garden and compositing project, which will provide an outside educational space for district students and bring product to local food banks from designated plots.

Additionally, the project will make gardening space available to community members who may not have space to plant a garden.

Chief executive of HCT, Dai Powell, shares the experiences and practical lessons he learned along the way when teaming up with Ealing Community Transport to deliver site transport during the Olympic Park construction.
