Two Canyon County school districts have been awarded grants to purchase new lunch equipment.

The Wilder School District was awarded $9,920 to buy a 60-quart Planetary Mixer, and West Canyon Elementary School in the Vallivue School District will receive $10,348.12 to buy a steamer.

These grants announced Tuesday were awarded through the Idaho State Department of Education and Child Nutrition Programs.

The Idaho State Department of Education, Child Nutrition Programs has awarded $133,062 in federal grant funding to help 15 Idaho schools purchase new school lunch equipment, according to a press release from the State Department of Education.

Idaho received the funding to help schools purchase the equipment for use in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs administered through the United States Department of Agriculture.

The application process was competitive with 32 school food authorities submitting grant applications totaling over $350,000 in equipment requests.

During the competitive application process, additional consideration was given to schools that had not received previous equipment grants and/or schools with a high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

The selection committee also looked at the age and condition of the schoolas existing equipment, equipment safety hazards, current fund balances, meal participation expansion, food safety, and energy efficiency.

Castleford School of the Castleford School District was awarded $7,950 for a dishwasher.Russel Elementary School of the Moscow School District was awarded $6,028.45 for a freezer.Popplewell Elementary School of the Buhl School District was awarded $12,903.13 for a convection steamer.Challis Elementary School of the Challis School District was awarded $6,375 for a convection oven.Shoshone Elementary School of the Shoshone School District was awarded $5,003.92 for a 30 quart Planetary Mixer.Glenns Ferry Elementary School of the Glenns Ferry School District was awarded $29,958.67 for a convection steamer/kettle.Anser Charter School was awarded $6,944 for a convection oven.Hagerman School of the Hagerman School District was awarded $7,638 for a dishwasher.Ada County Juvenile Center was awarded $6,505.41 for a range.Homedale High School of the Homedale School District was awarded $5,616.16 for an electric kettle.Northwest Childrenas Home was awarded $1,650 for a 20 quart Planetary Mixer.Wilder School District was awarded $9,920 for a 60 quart Planetary Mixer.Ririe Elementary / Middle School of the Ririe School District was awarded $10,762.74 for a tilting skillet.The Rendezvous Upper Elementary School of the Teton School District was awarded $5,459.10 for a range.West Canyon Elementary School of the Vallivue School District $10,348.12 for a steamer.
